Vlad Simionescu and Raluca Buzdugan founded the firm in 1995 in Bucharest, Romania.

Vlad Simionescu (M. Arch.) and Raluca Buzdugan (Ph.D. Arch, M. Urban Planning) are the design principals of the firm. They are both top graduates of “Ion Mincu Institute of Architecture” – Bucharest, Romania.

Prior to opening his own practice, Vlad Simionescu worked as a senior designer and design director with Cesar Pelli Architects, New Haven, U.S.A. Among the projects he collaborated on are the internationally acclaimed Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (until 2004 the highest buildings in the world).

He was awarded twice The Union of Architects of Romania Prize, the highest national honor in the profession.

Raluca was a visiting professor for 15 years, teaching Artistic Lighting, at the very same school she graduated from. She is also an accomplished painter and designer whose works are in international collections. Raluca is also passionate about theoretical architectural research, her latest book “Spatii sigure 2(m)-020”, written in collaboration with an international team of researchers, was awarded the Revista Arhitectura Prize in the Architectural Publications section at the Bienala de Arhitectura 2021 organized by the Union of Architects Romania

A team in the office, as well as in private life, Vlad Simionescu and Raluca Buzdugan personally direct and supervise the design process for each of the firm’s projects.

After founding their firm, Vlad Simionescu and Raluca Buzdugan continued their international work by collaborating with Pickard Chilton Architects on projects like: Wachovia Park Office Building – Winston-Salem; The Peachtree Tower – Atlanta; 24th & Camelback Office Building – Phoenix, Victory Tower – Dallas; Crawford Long Hospital – Atlanta.
